How access works at PIE
Pinellas County's rules for PIE require a written lease, permit or agreement before any commercial activity on the airport, unless the Airport Director waives it. If a based tenant hires us, we can work as that tenant's contractor under their lease, carrying the same insurance the tenant's own agreement requires.
Restricted areas need an airport badge or an escort from the tenant. We settle which route applies to your aircraft before we book.
Washing rules at PIE
Washing is allowed only in approved areas, under the airport's stormwater plan. Nonflammable cleaners are preferred, and any flammable solvent must have a flash point above 100°F. Pinellas County can fine up to $10,000 a day when anything other than stormwater reaches a drain, which is one more reason our exterior is waterless.
Clearwater Executive
Clearwater Executive, the former Clearwater Air Park, is a city-owned field managed by FlyUSA, which also runs the only full-service FBO there. The runway is 4,108 feet, so it's mostly turboprops, light jets and helicopters. We arrange access through the FBO.

Questions we get
Can a tenant at PIE hire you directly?
Yes. PIE's rules let a based tenant bring in a contractor under its own lease, provided the contractor meets the same insurance conditions as the tenant's agreement with the airport.
Where can aircraft be washed at PIE?
Only in approved areas and in the manner the Airport Director designates, under the airport's stormwater plan. We dry wash by default, so nothing reaches the drains.
How long does it take you to reach PIE?
About 20 minutes from St. Petersburg, and travel is included. Clearwater Executive is about 30 minutes.
