How access works
The City of St. Petersburg adopted new minimum standards for the airport on May 14, 2026. Cleaning, washing and waxing are named in them as aircraft services, and anyone providing them commercially needs an agreement with the City and a Commercial Operator Permit.
The standards encourage outside service providers to work as sublessees of the FBO, and there is also a temporary permit, usually 30 days or less, that the aircraft owner or operator starts. We tell you which of these applies before we book.
Washing rules
Albert Whitted's rules say plainly that aircraft may be dry washed without the City's approval. Washing that creates runoff outside an approved wash rack needs written approval first, and residual fluids go to an oil-water separator or off the airport. Our standard exterior is a dry wash, so it fits the rule as written.
