How access works at Tampa's airports

All four fields belong to the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, and its rule is simple: no commercial work on the airport without written authorization. An outside company works either under its own agreement with the Authority or under a subagreement with an FBO that the Authority has approved in writing.

At Tampa International that also means an Authority badge for anyone working airside. At Peter O. Knight, Tampa Executive and Plant City, access comes with the Authority's authorization: a gate code at Peter O. Knight and Plant City, an access card at Tampa Executive. We work out which route applies to your aircraft before we book, and we don't turn up until it's in writing.

Washing rules at Tampa's airports

Tampa International's washing directive allows dry washing at the FBOs at any time. Wet washing happens only in designated wash bays, with biodegradable, phosphate-free detergent, and nothing may reach a storm drain. Our standard exterior is a waterless dry wash for exactly that reason: it's the method the airport already allows on the ramp.

At Peter O. Knight, Tampa Executive and Plant City, washing happens only in approved areas, running water can't be used in a hangar that drains into another hangar, and no liquid goes to a storm drain. Atlas Aviation at Peter O. Knight has its own on-site aircraft cleaning area.

Getting there

From downtown St. Petersburg it's about 30 minutes to TPA or Peter O. Knight and about 40 to Tampa Executive, traffic allowing. Travel is included at all three. Plant City is about 45 minutes and a flat $95.

Scheduled work carries no response fee. Under 24 hours is a flat $1,500 and same day or AOG is a flat $3,000, the same at every airport.
